For once I have something positive to say about my training this week!
I have been to the gym and pool nearly every day, with sauna and Jacuzzi of course..
However, I ran the sky road loop which is a hilly 9 miles with spectacular views of the Cliffs and coastline. I was out for just under 2 hours. I had to walk perhaps a mile of it, but managed a sustained sprint for last 1/2 Kilometre which was pleasing.. I couldn't make the race on Sat 18th so a couple of day later I ran the beach road, ascending for what seemed like an eternity to the Sky Road. That was a 4 miler and a lot of climbing.
So , when I look at the training schedule, I can see that I am at a level which would mean half way through the recommended training schedule, so I am doing OK.
Definately slimmer and stronger now, although still drinking and smoking but that doesnt seem to effect me that much?!
So next week will start with a short run (4 miles) and then a longer run (10 -11 miles) later.
Lets hope I stay injury free as its a very nice way of getting to know an area.. you can appreciate it better when labouring through every step :-)

Sounds like the west of Ireland is doing you good- surely all that fresh air in your lungs entices you to give the smoking.
ReplyDeleteI think I will never do a marathon - I dislike running, which seems to be fundamental.. I have respect for those who do undertake the feat though :)
